Welcome to Year One
Hello fabulous Year 1 children!
I hope you are enjoying your new learning adventure and are keeping brains and bodies active!
We will be using tapestry as a vehicle to communicate daily tasks and challenges. Please log into tapestry: https://tapestryjournal.com/ for activities and new challenges to be posted each day. If you have any problems with logging in please contact Mrs Morrison or myself.
There is a home learning grid on Tapestry in the documents section called “Home Learning Grid 19th March” which gives a suggested structure for daily morning activities and afternoon activities to choose from.
For daily phonics, there is a Read write Inc Youtube channel with Speed Sound lessons. These will be great for maintaining the daily routine and keeping in touch with Fred! (your child will tell you who Fred is!)
Maths - Daily Maths Morning Starter
Find the calculations challenge. Choose a number as the answer e.g 12
What are the questions? 15 – 1 – 2, 6 + 4 + 2, 3 + 14 -5
Join in with The Body coach for ‘PE with Joe’ at 9 o’clock every morning, to get your brains warmed up for the day ahead. https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1
Please be guided as you see fit by your child’s interests. For example there are many great activities available online through social media and education websites. If your child loves unicorns, dragons or Minecraft and wants to write a story about this, then great – let them loose and enjoy their learning!
There are three books – one for daily phonics and other writing, one for maths and one for creative/art work.
Please use tapestry to celebrate the children’s work by uploading any photographs of activities or work.
If you have any questions at all please contact me on the email address below.
