PE Statement of Intent

It is our intention at Holy Family Primary school to build a curriculum that is inclusive and appropriate for the needs of our children. We intend for our children to develop knowledge, skills and vocabulary in a broad range of physical and sporting activities, whilst learning the importance of physical activity in creating a healthy lifestyle and a positive mindset. Our curriculum aims to improve the well being and fitness of all the children, not only through the sporting skills taught but through the underlying values that PE promotes.

We intend to nurture children beginning in EYFS in pursuit of the mastery of their fundamental movement skills. As they progress through the school, we want children to learn the skills and knowledge that underpin sports in order to prepare them to take part confidently in competitive sporting activities. We are passionate about the need to teach children how to cooperate and collaborate with others as part of a team, understanding fairness and this to be embedded into life-long values.

We aim to promote a vibrant culture of positivity and enthusiasm towards PE, school sports and physical activity where children are motivated and inspired to be the very best that they can be.
